INDIANAPOLIS - Six area food pantries are enjoying the fruits of Church Brothers Collision Repair's fourth annual Driving Down Hunger community food drive.
The family-owned-and-operated collision repair firm has announced the results of its month-long collection. During May, the drive brought in over 2100 pounds of food plus $7,000 in contributions.
These 2011 figures bring the Driving Down Hunger campaign's four-year total to over eight tons of food and $12,700 in cash donations. Pantries benefiting from this year's initiative are:
- Concord Neighborhood Center on the city's near southside;
- Johnson County Corps of the Salvation Army;
- Sheltering Wings, Danville;
- Noblesville's Third Phase;
- Old Bethel United Methodist Church on Indianapolis' far eastside, and
- St. Vincent DePaul on the near northside.
Driving Down Hunger was created by the Church M.I.C.E., (Motivated Involved Caring Employees), a group founded by Church Brothers' nearly 150 employees. The drive is one of several Church M.I.C.E. programs that give back to the communities that surround the company's six collision repair facilities.
Driving Down Hunger 2011 campaign partners included Indiana Paging Network, NOW Courier, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and A.G. Maas.
"For the fourth consecutive year, our employees, our partners and the community at large have made significant contributions that will benefit area residents who depend on these food pantries for basic needs," said Ted McClintic, president of Church Brothers Collision Repair. "We couldn't be more proud of everyone who participated, and definitely look forward to next May and an even bigger Driving Down Hunger campaign."
Founded in 1929, Church Brothers Collision Repair is a family-owned-and-operated firm with six state-of-the-art collision repair shops located throughout metropolitan Indianapolis: Downtown, Castleton, Northwest, Greenwood, Avon and Shadeland Avenue.
